This is an accelerated course that can be completed in as little as 3 days. This is recommended if you are coming from out of town and have a timeframe of less than a month. The Open water course has two components for the course – academic and practicals.
ACADEMIC -
This gives you the basic knowledge and understanding of the underwater environment. Just like learning to drive, you need to know the rules of the road. This knowledge gives you the rules for proceeding into the wonderful underwater environment. E-Learning (online) which consists of approximately 10 hours of material and testing. You can do this at your leisure. We will receive reports on your progress and notification of completion.
REVIEW and FITTING -
We spend about an hour in the shop reviewing what you learned online. We will also take this time to fit you into your rental gear. All rental is included, however, this is a great time to take advantage of the 20% student discount and get fitted in customer gear our own. Any gear bought that you planned to use must be brought in for review prior to water classes.
PRACTICALS -
Confined Water (Pool) – we test your swimming skills and your ability to float. Then we teach a series of basic skills that you will need when you are diving. All part of the skillset that you will need to dive safely. Open water dives (4 of them) – all the skills and knowledge that you learned in academics and confined water will now be demonstrated in your Open Water dives. Each dive has a prescribed set of skills that you will need to demonstrate to your instructor’s satisfaction. Once you have demonstrated your mastery of these skills you will become a “certified Open Water” diver. This offer is for our standard group class, private and other express classes available.
